I’ve served on several boards over the years, and I truly value the role a board plays in providing vision, governance, and long-term direction. But if I’m being honest, what fills my cup is committee work. It’s where ideas become action. It’s where strategy meets implementation. It’s where people with different gifts and perspectives roll up their sleeves, solve problems together, and move the mission forward in tangible ways. For me, committees are where the magic happens.
I believe committee work is one of the most meaningful ways to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It’s where your unique skills, whether in marketing, business, music, finance, event planning, or simply encouraging others, become part of something much bigger than yourself. You don’t have to have all the answers or carry the weight of an entire organization. You simply show up, serve faithfully alongside others, and watch God multiply what each person brings to the table.
Some of the strongest leaders I’ve had the privilege of serving with started on a committee. They discovered not only where they could make an impact, but also how God had uniquely equipped them to lead. If you’ve been looking for a place to use your gifts in a practical, meaningful way, I can’t think of a better place to start!
Where Can Your Gifts Make an Impact?
As Melody of Hope continues to grow, we are inviting new voices and fresh perspectives to join us. We have three distinct pathways to plug in:
- Artist Development Committee: Support local musicians by creating opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and paid performances to help them build sustainable careers.
- Branding Committee: Help tell the Melody of Hope story through marketing strategy, public relations, graphic design, and social media campaigns that expand our reach.
- Advisory Board: Share your specialized background (law, finance, tech, HR, nonprofit leadership) on an as-needed basis without an ongoing monthly meeting commitment.
What to Expect
Most committees meet once a month for about one hour, with optional hands-on project opportunities throughout the year. Serving on a committee is also our primary pathway for future Board of Directors leadership!
